In business and as networkers we always like to be helpful and make connections. As a professional Networker this is something I do every day! In my mind, I am always thinking about how to connect people. How can we help each other? Who would be a great referral partner for another’s business, etc.
One thing I sometimes forget, and many of us don’t think about, is we have to make sure the people we connect want to meet each other. I may think you are a match, but you may not be interested or you may not have a need that I thought you did. Please be sure to ask before you try to connect people. This is really a simple step to take and can avoid awkward situations down the road. One simple phrase: “Are you open for an introduction?” is all it takes!
